Introduction to Drupal: Installation and Basics

Drupal is a free software package for publishing, managing, and organizing a wide variety of content on a website. Equipped with a powerful blend of features, Drupal can support anything from personal weblogs to large community-driven or corporate sites to highly customized web applications.

This seminar is an introduction to Drupal for first-timers. It covers:

  • Installation
  • Creating and managing content pages
  • Basic site-building features: modules, comments, menus, sidebar blocks, categories, and more
  • User accounts and access control
  • Defining custom object types with the Content Construction Kit (CCK)
  • Displaying lists and summaries of content with Views

What will I need in the way of equipment and/or software in order to participate? I don't see that listed anywhere. Do I need anything more than a good internet connection and a browser? Do I call in for the audio?

Sadly, technical errors killed the recording I tried to make of the seminar. I was quite annoyed when I discovered this.

I will either hold another open session and get the recording right this time or else I will just make a screencast of the same content.

Trying to learn drupal and very keen for any screencasts explaining the basics, have some large websites being migrated into drupal so need to learn fast starting from the beginning. Managed the themes ok on my own site and incorporated gallery2 fine but having a bit of trouble getting head around nodes and views and how to setup image grids, slideshows etc.

Unfortunately dont know php very well only html and css.
